East Texas University has long-time fans who know Pinebox and the ETU campus as well as we do, but there’s also plenty of gamers who are discovering ETU for the first time. For the new inductees and the ones who need a refresher, we have a section all about the setting. We begin this section with a discussion on East Texas climate, Flora and Fauna, and the Big Thicket. There is a short history of Golan County, and a gazetteer of the county that includes many town and areas. Also natural features include Coker Cave, Kestrell Lake, Dale Island, Lake Greystone, Old Mill Creek, and Devil Pig Swamp. We also still cover Base X, the Burn, Golan Mounds State Park, Fort La Bonita, and more. Â
After covering the county, we zoom in for a description of Pinebox, Texas. This section includes the city government, landmarks, and locations, along with a listing of some of the local businesses and churches of the area. People of note include Blain Bishop (from Degrees of Horror), who has risen to Assistant Police Chief. He’s widely expected to become the next Police Chief when Jacob Minor retires. James Flowers is Mayor, and there is a new Sheriff of Golan County: Desiree Sawyer (elected after Butch Anderson retired). She was introduced in Pinebox Middle School. Â
Then we zoom in further to the university itself. The history and traditions are covered, as well as a new organization called The Night Guard–a volunteer group that provides safety escorts for students on campus after dark. There are several new buildings on campus and more detailed locations such as the Wellness Center and the steam tunnels. A new athletic dorm dedicated to the late great ETU football star Rahn Stevens has also recently opened for incoming Freshmen.
To assist the Deans running ETU, we have also included noteworthy ETU staff, from Administration to Professors of various areas of study and included a quick note on each. There are plenty of places to explore and adventures to be had!
